Media personality, event and TV host Sheilah Gashumba disagrees with Ugandan Deejays when it comes to playing “Amapiano Music.”
Amapiano Music is a style of house music that emerged in 2012 and popularly played in South Africa. It is a hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music characterized by synths and wide percussive basslines.
According to Sheilah Gashumba, there is no Ugandan deejay who can play Amapiano in away better than any South African deejay.
“There is no deejay in Uganda who knows how to play Amapiano music than the South African deejays. If you see South African deejays playing, then you will agree with me because there is a lot that they put in,” Sheilah Gashumba clarified.
In response, deejay Mercy one of the most prominent deejays in Uganda assured Sheilah that no technique is required while playing Amapiano music.
“Amapiano doesn’t require a lot of techniques to apply on the desks compared to other genres and it is very okay for deejays to play it because there are those who specialized in particular genres,” Dvj Mercy Pro responded.
