Rowland Raymond Kaiza, Ugandan producer, rapper and song writer well-known as Big Tril, hinted at the reasons why Ugandan music is still on pending and not hitting as hard as countries like Jamaica, Nigeria and so many others.
According to Big Tril, he would love Uganda to be the African Jamaica in the music industry. However much Jamaica is a small country, it is known globally as one of the most dominant nations musically and it is easier to identify music from Jamaica.
Big Trill further affirmed that Nigeria has no particular sound despite being the African kings of Afro-beats. The rapper added that there is a huge difference between Burna Boy’s afro-beat and that of Wizkid or Fire Boy DML, it is only they were they speak out some words that tell where the music is from.
“I want Uganda to be the African Jamaica, a small country but a big problem when it comes to vibes. Nigeria has no particular sound despite being the kings of Afro-beats, Wizkid’s Afro-beats doesn’t sound like that of Burna or Fire Boy DML. So, they really don’t have a sound.” Big Tril affirmed.
From the above statements, Big Tril affirmed that Uganda needs a music language that will make its music sound differently.
