Durban Shooting Claims Life of South African Rapper AKA, 35


A devastating incident occurred in Durban, South Africa, resulting in the death of Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, also known as AKA, a prominent South African rapper.

Reports state that AKA was targeted in a drive-by shooting outside a restaurant on Florida Road while celebrating his birthday at YUGO nightclub.

According to an anonymous first responder, AKA was shot while standing on the pavement at around 10 pm. Sadly, a close friend of the rapper lost their life in the same shooting, while AKA’s bodyguard was injured.

The police have not released any names of the victims yet, pending a full investigation. Tributes to the rapper have started pouring in on his Instagram page, as fans express their condolences and pay their respects.

AKA’s new album ‘Mass Country’ was scheduled for release on February 27, and his last social media posts were promotional content for the album. He is survived by his daughter Kairo Olwethu Forbes, born in 2015, with his ex-partner DJ Zinhle. AKA was well-known for his hit single ‘Victory Lap’.
